Mechanical scrub, enzymatic exfoliation… it's hard to know which method to choose for exfoliating your face. While both help remove dead cells and improve skin texture, they do not act in the same way. So, what is the difference between mechanical and enzymatic exfoliation? And do you really have to choose between the two?

What is mechanical exfoliation?
Mechanical exfoliation works through a physical action. The exfoliating particles in the product remove dead cells located on the surface of the skin during massage.
This is the principle of a traditional grain scrub. Its main benefit is its immediate action: it helps to refine skin texture and restore smoother skin.
But not all scrubs are created equal. The size and nature of the grains matter, especially for sensitive skin. In the Les Petits Prödiges Regenerating Exfoliating Mask, mechanical exfoliation is provided by natural exfoliants derived from oats and cellulose, with ultra-fine grains designed to exfoliate gently.
What is enzymatic exfoliation?
Unlike a mechanical scrub, enzymatic exfoliation works without friction. It promotes the elimination of dead cells to contribute to skin renewal and improve its appearance.
In our mask, it is flower acids that participate in this gentle exfoliation. Their action helps to smooth and brighten the skin, without needing to rely solely on massage.
It is therefore a particularly interesting approach when looking for exfoliation that is both effective and gentle, especially for sensitive skin.
Mechanical or enzymatic exfoliation: do you really have to choose?

Not necessarily! On the contrary, both methods can be complementary.
Mechanical exfoliation acts on the surface of the skin and helps to immediately refine its texture, while enzymatic exfoliation completes its action to promote skin renewal. Combining them therefore allows for a more complete exfoliation.
That is precisely the principle of our Regenerating Exfoliating Mask: bringing together mechanical and enzymatic exfoliation in a single 3-in-1 treatment, which can be used as a scrub, an enzymatic peel, or by combining both actions.
In practice, you can massage the mask for 30 seconds to 1 minute to enjoy its mechanical action, leave it on for 10 minutes for its enzymatic action, or combine both gestures to enjoy double exfoliation.
Double exfoliation for a fresh start

The goal of this double exfoliation? Eliminate dead cells, refine skin texture, smooth and brighten the complexion, all while preserving the comfort of sensitive skin.
The results speak for themselves: 100% of volunteers find the exfoliation gentle and non-irritating, 95% see results from the first use, and 100% find their skin smoother and softer after 14 days of use.*
Ultimately, rather than pitting mechanical scrub against enzymatic exfoliation, why not enjoy the benefits of both? A way to rethink exfoliation to regain smoother, brighter, and more even skin, with a true "new skin" effect.
*Usage test carried out under dermatological control on 22 volunteers with sensitive skin, with 2 applications per week for 14 days.
