LES PETITS PRÖDIGES: FEMALE ENTREPRENEURSHIP SERVING NATURAL COSMETICS

LES PETITS PRÖDIGES, A START-UP WINNER OF THE REC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

The start-up Les Petits Prodiges is a winner of REC Développement, a free scaling-up support program offered by REC Innovation.

A MINIMALIST, MULTI-PURPOSE NATURAL BRAND

Beauty routines are a huge source of waste. Between bottles, tubes, and jars, 75,000 tons of cosmetic and hygiene product packaging are thrown away every year in France. This is equivalent to the weight of ten Eiffel Towers.

Created in 2017 by two women, Clémentine Granet and Camille Brégeaut, the brand Les Petits Prödiges aims to revisit the essentials of hygiene and beauty routines.

To go back to basics and simplify one's beauty routine to make it more eco-responsible, the brand offers 100% natural and made in France products. Eco-responsible, meaning they are not tested on animals and contain no parabens, preservatives, sulfates, or alcohol.

Made in a small laboratory in the South of France, these products are made from simple ingredients such as shea butter, sunflower oil, and coconut oil.

Their flagship product, the multi-purpose balm, is designed to replace all your daily creams. By itself, the mixed multi-purpose balm can replace up to 10 different creams.

A ZERO-WASTE APPROACH

The Petits Prödiges range is made up of cosmetic products that are good for the skin, but also for the environment!

Camille and Clémentine apply their logic right down to their product packaging. The balm is packaged in a small reusable metal tin, and the deodorant in biodegradable packaging!

BEING FEMALE ENTREPRENEURS

Today, even if the number of female entrepreneurs is increasing every day, they only represent 8% of entrepreneurship in France.

However, the two partners have successfully risen to the challenge. Today, their products are sold throughout France, at Monoprix, Galeries Lafayette, in organic cosmetic stores, and also in pharmacies.

Before launching, Camille Brégeaut and Clémentine Granet both held Marketing positions in the cosmetics industry, at Birchbox for 1 year before becoming Business Developers at Beauteprivée for over 3 years for Clémentine and at Darphin for 3 years for Camille.

It's not surprising that they embarked on an entrepreneurial adventure, especially after a few years of professional experience in the cosmetics sector.

As they shared in the Start'up Story article, the two partners began to think about their entrepreneurial project by observing their surroundings and drawing on their respective professional experiences. They noted that in our bathrooms, there are far too many cosmetic products. And each product itself is made up of far too many ingredients, sometimes harmful to us and the planet. Not to mention the cost of these multiple, ultra-specialized products. So they had one idea in mind: to change our consumption habits, by encouraging us to adopt more ecological, natural, and above all multi-purpose products.

They decided to test the market with a first product, their famous multi-purpose moisturizing balm.

THE COSMETICS PRODIGIES

They launched a crowdfunding campaign (pre-sale) on Ulule at the end of 2017 to finance the manufacturing of this first product and, at the same time, engage with potential customers. And it was a real success, as the campaign exceeded its initial goal, reaching 400% of pre-orders.

Since then, they have expanded their range and now offer, in addition to their balms, deodorants.

Today, their ambition is to establish themselves internationally and further develop their range with all essential bathroom products: toothpaste, shampoo, etc.

CONFINEMENT NEWS: LES PETITS PRÖDIGES DONATE NOURISHING BALMS TO CAREGIVERS

The brand donated nearly 2000 boxes of its flagship product to healthcare personnel in the Paris region. The balm helps care for their hands, which are dried out by the intensive use of hydroalcoholic gels.

A significant solidarity effort for this young start-up. Bravo to them!
