Our efficacy tests were carried out by an accredited company. Here's a walk-through of every step:
Step 1 — preparing our testers
The testers prepared their bodies for our test by not using any other deodorants or antiperspirants for 14 days before the pre-treatment phase. They were given a gentle hygiene product to wash with during this period.
Step 2 : pre-treatment phase – we make sure our testers have enough odor !
24 hours after their last shower, 3 sniffers (yes, really, sniffers !) assess the testers' body odor to make sure it's strong enough for the test to be relevant. The assessment is scored from 1 to 5 (1 being an undetectable odor and 5 a very strong odor). Only testers who scored at least 2 ("noticeable odor") were allowed to move on to the third step.
Step 3: trial phase: time to test our favorite deodorants!
At last, we've reached the trial phase : the testers now apply our deodorant to one underarm only (chosen at random, right or left depending on the tester) with a standard amount of product. After one week of use, on day 6, there's a final shower followed by the subject's last application of the product. On day 7, the subjects return to the lab to share their feedback.
For the 48-hour efficacy claim — 48 hours after the last application of the product (day 8), the subjects returned to the lab and underwent a new olfactory assessment by sniffers using the odor scale.
The results:
- 100% found the deodorant effective for 48 hours.
- 100% found that the deodorant absorbs odors and moisture well.
- 100% found that the deodorant is effective even after sports or physical exertion.
- 90% found it more effective than their previous deodorant.
- 90% found that the texture doesn't crumble and doesn't leave marks on clothing (not even on black clothes).
- 100% liked the deodorant's texture and found it gentle on the skin.
- 100% found that the fragrance smells good.
